Don’t say anything if you’re going to say I’m stupid or anything along those lines for piercing with a safety pin.
I’m sorry but you’re asking for it. (This is what I get for growing up with a dad who apprenticed as both a tattoo artist and a piercer.)
So, the reason that there are special needles to pierce with is because the needles are actually hollow and when they pierce they actually make a hole in the skin. It’s cleaner and heals faster that way. A safety pin is not hollow. It forces the skin apart and creates a lot of stress on the wound. It is the absolute LAST FUCKING RESORT, and even then you want to wait until you can get it done legally and cleanly and safely. Poking holes in your skin with tools that are 1) not made for piercing and 2) not properly sanitized is not cool. Getting beautiful and professional body modifications with very little risk of infection is hella tight.
